Civic Associations have evolved throughout the United States as a way for communities to be organized and present a united voice to the government officials. Citizen involvement is what makes a strong community and a strong Civic Association. With the support of the Woodbridge Magisterial District Supervisor, Frank Principi, the WPCCA was started in October of 2008 by volunteers who wanted to see a New Woodbridge and were willing to work together to develop a plan to improve the community.
The WPCCA purpose is to unite the communities of Woodbridge (Potomac Communities) to address issues such as land use, environment, transportation and development. The Association will also participate in civic matters throughout Prince William County, Virginia. The Association is a non-partisan, non-political group. The Association does not engage in activities, interests, or policies which seek exclusively to promote, support, or endorse the interests of a particular occupational, business, commercial, or other special interest organization.
Any resident, business, non-profit organization or property owner in the Woodbridge Magisterial District, eighteen years of age or older, may be an Association member. Membership requires annual registration and attendance in at least one meeting per year. Currently a Board of Directors is working to organize the Association, establish By-laws and recruit membership. It is made up of individuals who have lived in Woodbridge for 30+ years as well as newer residents.
Over the next several months, WPCCA will focus on understanding planned business and development activities in the area. This will include interaction with County planning staff, business owners and developers to define and build a new, improved community. Please join the WPCCA and become part of creating a positive image for “New Woodbridge.”
* Note: WPCCA is on Summer hiatus and meetings will resume in September
